Audition Details for The Christians

Wilmington Drama League is excited to announce auditions for the thought-provoking drama, The Christians by Lucas Hnath. Director, Dominic Santos, and stage manager, Cara Tortorice seek a diverse cast of strong actors and singers to join this unique and important production.

PLOT

Pastor Paul basks in the glory of having built a megachurch with thousands of loyal congregants and a newly-paid-for building. But a singular sermon that will radically shift the church’s teachings starts a ripple effect that could have devastating consequences both personally and professionally.

 

Rehearsals will begin in early September and will be based on actor availability. Please be prepared to list known conflicts. 


AUDITION DATES
Auditions will be held August 10th & 11th.

Sign-in begins at 6:30pm with auditions starting at 7:00pm.

You must be signed in by 8pm to audition.

 

Callbacks will be held August 13th at 7:00pm. 

WHAT TO PREPARE
For “SINGERS,” please prepare one minute of a contemporary gospel/praise and worship song. A backing track is preferred but acapella is acceptable. A Bluetooth speaker will be provided. All other roles will consist of readings from the script which can be found here:

  • PASTOR: Paul. he/him. A megachurch preacher. Possesses a grounded charisma. Think TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Andy Stanley. Looking for an actor who can handle a substantial amount of dialogue. Any race. 40-50
     

  • ASSOCIATE: Joshua. he/him. Associate Pastor. Eager and charismatic. Think Michael Todd & Steven Furtick. Any race. Mid 20s-mid 30s. 
     

  • WIFE: Elizabeth. she/her. First lady of the church. Poised and measured. Any race. Late 30s-50. 
     

  • CONGREGANT: Jenny. she/her. Very conflicted. Can double as a “Singer.” Any race. 20s-40s. 
     

  • ELDER: Jay. he/him. A church elder and board member. Any race. Late 60s- late 70s. 
     

  • SINGERS: Praise and worship singers for the church. Looking for about 4-8 people of all genders and races. Should be good with harmony. Especially looking for someone who can act as a praise and worship leader of sorts. 18 and up.
