Audition Details and Requirements

The Chrysalis Players of The Wilmington Drama League announce auditions for their June production of
“Disney’s Freaky Friday”.


Auditions will be held on Monday, February 13 and Wednesday, February 15 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm.
Callbacks, if necessary, will be Sunday, February 19 at 6:30pm.

 

Seeking teens (or pre-teens who can pass as older teenagers), adults, and one male-identifying young
person, to fill multiple roles in the musical based on the classic Disney film, “Freaky Friday”.

 

Please prepare 16 – 32 bars (approximately one minute) of a song in the style of the show. An
accompanist will be provided. A sound system will be provided if you wish to sing to a backing track. If
you sing to a backing track please ensure that there are no backing vocals of any kind on the track. We
may also ask you to sing a separate song with an accompaniment if you sing to a track. No acapella
singing please!


Be prepared to dance. You can bring a change of clothes to dance in and will be given an opportunity to
change.


Please bring a list of all conflicts from mid-March through June 18, 2023.


Rehearsals will be Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays from 6:30 – 9:30. There may be slight deviations
throughout the schedule but in general those will be the rehearsal nights. Tech week will be from June
3- June 7, 2023, with performances on June 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. Strike will take place after the
show on June 18 and all are required to attend.

KATHERINE BLAKE: 40s, Female. Widowed mother of two, owns her own bakery, switches bodies with
her teen daughter, Ellie. Must be able to go from a “Type A personality” to a laid back, teen. Mezzo-
Soprano: G3 to G5. Belt, Rock, Pop. Moves Well.


ELLIE BLAKE: 16-18 years old; Female. Laid back, teen daughter of Katherine Blake. Switches bodies with
her mom, Katherine. Must be able to go from a rebellious teen to a “Type A”, mature, adult. Mezzo-
Soprano, alto. F3-E5. Belt, Rock, Pop. Moves Well.


FLETCHER BLAKE: 10 years old, Male. Innocent, precocious, son of Katherine Blake. Misses his dad but
finds solace in his mom’s fiancée, Mike. Tenor: F3 to A#4/Bb4. Pop. Moves well.


MIKE REILLY: 40s, male. Engaged to Katherine. Knows he can never replace Ellie and Fletcher’s dad, but
does his best to be there for them. Baritone: C#3 to G4. Rock, pop. Moves well

THE FRIENDS:


ADAM: 16-18 years old, Male. Heartthrob high school student. Leader of the game “The Hunt”. Chill, laid
back. Loves sandwiches. Tenor: C3 to F4, Rock, pop. Moves well.


SAVANNAH: 16-18 years old, Female. Ellie’s nemesis, the queen bee of Grover Cleveland high School. A
bit stuck up, know it all. Looks down on all. Mezzo-Soprano: D4 to C#5. Moves well.


GRETCHEN: teens, Female. Student at Grover Cleveland High, Friend of the Blake Family. Mezzo-
Soprano, alto. Moves well.


HANNAH: teens, Female. Student at Grover Cleveland High, Friend of the Blake Family. Mezzo-Soprano,
alto. Moves well.


PARKER: teens, Male. Student at Grover Cleveland High, friend of the Blake Family. Baritone. Moves
well.


WELLS: teens, Male. Student at Grover Cleveland High, friend of the Blake Family. Baritone. Moves well.


TORREY: 30s-40s, Female. Personal assistant to Katherine Blake. Very organized, very funny. Mezzo-
Soprano, Alto. Belt, Rock, Pop. Moves well. (may double in other roles)

MS. MEYERS: 20s-40s, adult. Gym teacher at Grover Cleveland High. Sings “Watch Your Back”. Moves
well.


DR. EHRIN: 20s-40s, adult. Principal at Grover Cleveland High. Sings and moves well.


MR BLUMEN: 20s-40s, adult. Biology teacher. Sings and moves well.
