Director Rebecca May Flowers brings the inspiring A Little Princess to The Wilmington Drama League stage for the holidays. The musical, written by Andrew Lippa, with a book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, is based on the Frances Hodgson Burnett novel and chronicles a girl’s courage and resilience in difficult circumstances. Sent away from her idyllic life in West Africa with her father, Sara Crewe uses her compassion and imagination to persevere and survive isolation, loss and an abusive headmistress – with the grace of a real-life princess. Her memories take shape on stage, woven with lively dance and Afro-infused music. Little Princess runs Dec. 9-30. Performances are at 8 p.m. Dec. 9, 10, 16, 22, 23 and 30 and 2 p.m. Dec. 11, 17, 18 and 28.
